Students embark on trip to Japan

Three students from Tamil Nadu would embark on their maiden trip to Japan under the Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science.

The students were selected after they excelled in the INSPIRE programme which is organised to attract the children towards science since the past five years by Government of India's Department of Science and Technology.

Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Programme in Science conducted by the Japan Science and Technology is a programme for enhancing exchange between Asia and Japan for the youth who will play a crucial role in the future of science and technology, an official release said.

The programme conducted for class ten, eleven and twelve, aims at raising the interest of Asian youth and encouraging them to contribute towards promotion of science and technology within Asian countries.
 

About 11 students from Tamil Nadu emerged victorious at the National level contest and A Abubakkar, T Vignesh and V Yugavendan all belonging to class eleven, were shortlisted by the department.

While Abubakkar and Vignesh left for Japan today, Yugavendan would leave for Japan next month, it said.
