On the occasion of Chandrashekhar Azad's 85th death anniversary, student bodies SFI and ABVP organised different programmes at the Government College campus here.
The two groups raised slogans but there was no report of any untoward incident.
The leftist student body SFI and right-winged ABVP has clashed with each other at the college previously. Keeping this in view, police force was posted at the institution.
Principal R P Hooda paid tribute at both the programmes and told the students that arranging two separate ceremonies is an insult to the freedom fighter.
Khattar said that policy is being framed to open new girls
colleges so as to ensure that girls do not have to travel beyond 10 km to pursue higher education in the state.
Under the policy, areas would be identified by next year for setting up more colleges. Besides, the government would fill up 3,000 posts of professors in colleges, Khattar said addressing a public meeting at Adampur in Hisar district today.
"The state government is of the view that not even a single girl child in the state should feel deprived of the facility of higher education, and that she should get this facility in the nearby areas," he said.
He said the state government has formulated a policy under which a medical college would be opened in each district to overcome the shortage of doctors in the state. These colleges would produce about 2,000 doctors every year, he said.
Besides, about five lakh youths would be imparted training under the Skill Development Mission to make them self-employed.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister made various announcements to the tune of Rs 180 crore, including Rs 50 crore for strengthening the canal irrigation system in Adampur area. Apart from this, he announced Rs 15 crore separately for other development works in rural areas.
During the last two years, a sum of Rs 35 crore has been spent on developmental works in the Adampur Assembly constituency, Khattar said.
He said the state government has worked hard during the last two years to keep the promises made to the people.
"Corruption is a big issue in the state as well as in the country. Steps have been taken both by the BJP Government at the Centre and in the state to curb graft," he said.
