Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said students' union elections will be held in the state's colleges and universities in two months time, ending a decades-long wait.
The elections will be held in the last week of September or in the first week of October, Khattar said.
Issuing directions in this regard through video-conferencing here to all deputy commissioners and superintendents of police, the chief minister told them to make all arrangements to ensure that the elections are held peacefully, an official statement said.
The students' union polls were banned in 1997 by the then Chief Minister Bansi Lal following incidents of violence.
