A Midnapore court today extended the police custody of the arrested Chhatra Parishad general secretary of a West Midnapore college by four days.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Manjusree Mondal asked the police to produce Soumen Ganguly, general secretary of the students' union of Sabong Sajanikanta College, for further hearing on September 5.

Soumen had been picked up in connection with the unnatural death of Krishna Prasad Jana, a third year BA student in the college on August 7 last, allegedly during a clash between Chhatra Parishad and Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) members.
