Students, women among 9 killed in road mishaps

Nine persons, among them women and students, were killed in a collision and hit-and-run case separately here and in Adilabad district of Telangana today, police said.

Six persons, five of them women, were killed when the autorickshaw they were travelling in collided head-on with a lorry at Kadam in Adilabad district this afternoon, Khanapur Circle Inspector Naresh Kumar said.

"The lorry driver fled from the spot after the accident," he said.

In the second mishap, three degree students died on the spot after they were hit by a speeding car while jogging at 4.45 am in Nagaram area on the city's outskirts, Inspector A Man Mohan of Maheshwaram Police Station said.
 

The deceased were identified as Srisailam, B Janardhan and M Raghvender, all in their 20s, he said, adding the car driver is absconding.
