A sub engineer posted under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act scheme (MNREGA) was caught-red handed by the Lokayukta police in Biora town while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000.
The accused Vikas Agrawal had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 from one Narendra Dangi for evaluating work done with a cost of Rs 3.12 lakh for digging a well at Bagori village under Kapil Dhara scheme, Lokayuta SP Birendra Singh said.
Dangis's brother lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta police. Following which, a trap was laid and Agrawal was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe, he said.
A case under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against him in this regard and further investigations are on, the SP added.
