Subhash double strike sinks Sporting Clube

Sporting took the lead in the 21st minute through Anoure Obiora Richard before Subash Singh equalised for Pune FC in the 41st minute.

Subash Singh, who combined well with James Moga upfront, then uncorked a right footer from the left that curled and beat rival keeper Ashok Singh all ends to give Pune FC victory and full points.

Pune FC now have 13 points from seven matches while Sporting, who lost their fifth match, remained on seven points from eight matches.

Sporting Clube de Goa were desperate for a win to bring back their confidence. They started earnestly and attacked their rival defence from the word go.

 

With Ogba Kalu controlling the midfield and good assistance from the flanks, Pune FC citadel, which was under constant threat, finally fell in the 21st minute.

Adil Khan, who put the rival defence under constant threat from the right, sent a perfect cross for Anoure Obiora Richard who stretched his leg to tap the ball into the net.

Pune FC, who took control over proceedings in the last 15 minutes of the first half, restored parity in 41st minute.

James Moga essayed a powerful shot which keeper Ashok Singh failed to collect and the ball slipped out from his hands and Subash Singh, who was nearby, slotted the ball home to have both the teams 1-1 at half time.

There was not much of action after the change of ends and it was Sporting who came close to scoring twice but first Obiora's fierce shot was put out by keeper Mondal in the 65th minute and later Freiman Peixoto rattled the post off a cross from Jovel Martins.

After these close shaves, Pune struck in the 66th minute when Subhas Singh's curling shot beat rival keeper.
