Paul, who spent most of the last I-League season injured, is likely to leave for Germany on Friday for a three-week stint in the German city of Leipzig.

His trial will be sponsored by energy drink-maker Red Bull, with which he has a tie-up. Red Bull recently bought the club.

Paul was supposed to go for the trial on July 16 but had to delay it due to some visa issues.

He had an unsuccessful trial stint at FC Vancouver in Canada in 2009.

Paul has been India's number one goalkeeper for quite some time under English coach Bob Houghton. He starred in the two Nehru Cup victories here in 2007 and 2009.

He was also impressive in India's Asia Cup campaign in Doha in January 2011.
