Successful bidder for Goa airport will provide training too

Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar today said the successful bidder for the international airport at Mopa in the state will have to train the local people for airport operations too.

"One of the main conditions that would be put before the successfully bidding company is that they will have to provide manpower training required for the airport," Parsekar said.

The government has issued Request For Proposal to four short-listed companies: GVK, GMR, Essel Infra-Mumbai and Voluptas Developers.

For the time being, the training can be conducted at Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Pernem, the Chief Minister said.

Goa Governor Mridula Sinha had in her address to the Legislative Assembly said that the airport would be commissioned by 2019.
