Ailing actress Suchitra Sen's health stabilised to some extent today but she continued to be on intermittent non-invasive ventilation.

"Mrs Suchitra Sen's condition has stabilised to some extent. Her oxygen saturation although fluctuating, is maintained at a reasonable level," said doctors of Belle Vue Clinic.

"She still needs non-invasive ventilation at irregular intervals for oxygen support. She is also being given chest physiotherapy by specialists at a private Intensive Treatment Unit cabin," said the bulletin issued by Belle Vue Clinic where the 82-year-old actress was admitted on December 23 with a respiratory tract infection.

Doctors said her heart rate and blood pressure were satisfactory and she was being monitored around-the-clock by a six-member team of doctors led by critical care specialist Dr Subrata Maitra.

Sen, who has kept herself away from public eye for the last three decades, was the first Indian actress to win the best actress award internationally at the Moscow Film Festival.

She had starred in memorable Hindi and Bengali films like 'Devdas', 'Aandhi', 'Saat Paake Bandha', 'Agnipariksha', 'Saptopadi' and 'Deep Jele Jai'.
