Legendary actress Suchitra Sen wanted to be discharged from hospital and go home where the treatment could continue, doctors attending on her said.
The attending doctors at the Belle Vue Clinic, where she was being treated, had yesterday said that Sen could be released in the next 2-3 days as her medical condition had stabilised.
Sources said this had brought a cheer on the face of the screen icon as well as her family members, all of whom had requested the hospital authorities to discharge her as fast as possible.
"She had told us that she wants to go home now, away from the hospital environment and we had made up our mind to discharge her, but then suddenly her condition deteriorated last night and in the morning she had a heart attack. We could do little," a doctor said.
The family was not willing to let her be put on ventilator, after which she was given intermittent non-invasive ventilation.
