Senior missile scientist Sudhir Mishra's name has been cleared by the government to take over as the chief of Indo-Russian joint venture BrahMos Aerospace Corporation where he will replace A Sivathanu Pillai.
Mishra was looking after all the major missile programmes and his name has been cleared for heading the BrahMos Aerospace Corporation, Defence officials told PTI today.
The Indo-Russian joint venture produces the 290 km-range BrahMos supersonic cruise missile and was headed by Pillai since its inception in 1999.

Mishra will take over as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the organisation, which falls under the effective control of the DRDO.
He will take over as the head of the BrahMos on August 1 after Pillai's term expires on July 31, they said.
Mishra did his MTech from IIT-Madras after completing Engineering from Jabalpur.
He has contributed in a significant manner in the all the missile programmes under the Integrated Missile Development Programme (IMDP) including the Agni ballistic missile programme.
BrahMos missile has been developed for all the three services by the joint venture company and is being developed for submarines and fighter aircraft such as Sukhoi Su-30MKI combat aircraft.
