Sudipto Sen and Debjani get bail in a case

Sudipto Sen, main accused in the multi-crore Saradha ponzi scheme scam and his associate Debjani Mukhopadhaya today got bail in the first case against them on the basis of which they were arrested in April.

But the duo will still be in jail as several other cases of defrauding investors in the ponzi scheme are pending against them in the courts.

Sudipto Sen, Debjani Mukhopadhaya were granted bail by Bidhannagar court here in the case (no 32) dealing with Saradha's failure in paying salaries of employees working in a TV channel owned by Sen.

Sen along with Mukhopadhaya were arrested from Kashmir on April 23.
 

Thousands of investors of Saradha had hit the roads alleging they had been duped of thousands of crores of rupees.

Hundreds of agents of the company had been rendered jobless and several of them and investors had committed suicide.
