Under fire from Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on electricity outages, private power utility BSES today said sufficient power was arranged to meet the summer demand and it was working to ensure that generation, transmission and distribution networks are aligned to meet the load.
"Sufficient power has been arranged to meet the summer demand and BSES is working in tandem with generation companies and Delhi Transco Ltd to ensure generation, distribution and transmission networks are aligned to meet the summer load," said a senior BSES officer.
Delhi's peak power demand clocked at 6188 MW, the highest-ever recorded in Delhi, on May 20. It was an increase of over 23 per cent from the peak power demand witnessed in the third week of May last year, he said.

Electricity network is also not getting sufficient time to cool down, stressing the network and causing increased number of faults, he said.
"Despite this unprecedented and continuous high power demand, the distribution network has been largely been able to measure up," he said.
In a stern warning to private power distribution companies, Kejriwal had on Tuesday given a week's deadline to them to fix the outages, adding that his government will not hesitate to cancel their licenses if they fail to comply with the directive.
The BSES official said "lack of space" for installing distribution network in unauthorised colonies and "unprecedented load growth" in "high power theft areas" also contributed to 'trippings and burn-out' of equipment in adjoining regular areas.
In the last few days, BSES discoms have taken several additional measures to address the situation by deploying additional manpower and resources, he said.
Additional numbers have been launched for registering 'no supply' complaints besides emergency control room to monitor faults round the clock and hot spot scanning to detect faults in the equipment at grid level, he added.
BSES discoms cater to the power needs of two-third of the national capital and over 37 lakh customers across south, west, east and central Delhi.
