Sugar climbs by Rs 120 per quintal

Sugar prices strengthened by Rs 120 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today on the back of strong demand from bulk consumers and retailers amid thin supplies from mills.

Marketmen attributed steep rise in sweetener prices to increased offtake by bulk consumers and retailers.

Besides, beginning of new month too supported the upside in prices, they said.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices spurted by Rs 120 each to settle at Rs 3,200-3,400 and Rs 3,190-3,390 per quintal.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices were also up by Rs 30 each to Rs 3,020-3,160 and Rs 3,010-3,150 per quintal.
 

In the millgate section, sugar prices of government and co-operative mills, like Ramala, Anupshaher, Baghpat, Nazibabad and Morna recordeda hefty rise of up to Rs 80 per quintal at Rs 3,070, Rs 3,060, Rs 3,080, Rs 3,070 and Rs 3,080 per quintal respectively.

Private mills such as Mawana and Dorala also showed a rise of Rs 50 each at Rs 3,080 each per quintal.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 29.00-36.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,200-3,400, S-30 Rs 3,190-3,390.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,020-3,160, S-30 Rs 3,010-3,150.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs 3,080, Kinnoni Rs 3,160, Asmoli Rs 3,110, Dorala Rs 3,080, Budhana Rs 3,070, Thanabhavan Rs 3,060, Dhanora Rs 3,060, Simbholi Rs 3,110, Khatuli Rs 3,085, Dhampur Rs 3,040, Ramala Rs 3,070, Anupshaher Rs 3,060, Baghpat Rs 3,080, Morna Rs 3,080, Sakoti Rs 3,040, Chandpur Rs 3,020, Nazibabad Rs 3,070 and Malakpur Rs 3,040.
