Both the varieties of sugar dipped at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to stockist selling amid lower demand from retailers and millers.
Small sugar (S-30) dropped by Rs 25/42 per quintal to Rs 2,800/2,950 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 2,842/2,975.
Medium sugar (M-30) was also slid by Rs 9/30 to 2,941/3,092 per quintal from 2,950/3,122 previously.
Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,941/3,092 (Rs 2,950/ 3,122).
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,800/2,950 (Rs 2,842/ 2,975).
