Sugar dips on sluggish demand

Prices of both varieties of sugar dipped further at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to sluggish demand from stockists and retailers amid poor offtake by bulk consumers.

Small sugar (S-30) moved down by Rs 4 per quintal to Rs 3,896/4,005 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 3,900/4,005.

Medium sugar (M-30) declined by Rs 20 per quintal to Rs 3,950/4,162 as against Rs 3,970/4,162 previously.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,896/4,005 (Rs 3,900/4,005).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,950/4,162 (Rs 3,970/4,162).
