Sugar edges up on increased offtake

Sugar saw rise in its prices at the wholesale sugar market backed up by increased offtake by retailers and bulk consumers.

Traders said pick up in demand from retailers as well as bulk consumers supported the upside in sugar prices.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 edged up to Rs 3,230-3,430 and Rs 3,220-3,420 from previous levels of Rs 3,200-3,400 and Rs 3,190-3,390 per quintal, respectively.

Similarly, mill delivery M-30 and S-30 traded higher at Rs 2,990-3,240 and Rs 2,980-3230 from Rs 2,980-3,240 and Rs 2,970-3,230 per quintal respectively.

In the millgate section, Ramala, Anupshaher, Baghpat, Morna and Sakoti also settled higher at Rs 3,000, Rs 2,990, Rs 3,010, Rs 3,010 and Rs 3,100 against last close of Rs 2,990, Rs 2,980, Rs 3,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 3,090 per quintal, respectively.
 

On the other hand, Mawana, Asmoli, Dorala, Dhanora and Simbholi finished marginally lower at Rs 3,130, Rs 3,220, Rs 3,130, Rs 3,100 and Rs 3,220 instead of Rs 3,140, Rs 3,230, Rs 3,140, Rs 3,110 and Rs 3,230 per quintal, respectively.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 29.00-36.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,230-3,430, S-30 Rs 3,2200-3,420.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 2,990-3,240, S-30 Rs 2,980-3,230.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs 3,130, Kinnoni Rs 3,240, Asmoli Rs 3,220, Dorala Rs 3,130, Budhana Rs 3,140, Thanabhavan Rs 3,130, Dhanora Rs 3,100, Simbholi Rs 3,220, Khatuli Rs 3,180, Dhampur Rs 3,090, Ramala Rs 3,000, Anupshaher Rs 2,990, Baghpat Rs 3,010, Morna Rs 3,010, Sakoti Rs 3,100, Chandpur Rs 3,080, Nazibabad Rs 2,990 and Malakpur Rs 3,070.
