Sugar extends decline on subdued demand

Prices of both varieties of sugar -- small and medium -- continued its fall at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to reduced demand from stockists and retailers on the back of adequate supply position.

Small Sugar (S-30) dropped by Rs 18/27 per quintal to Rs 2,422/2,575 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 2,440/2,602.

Medium sugar (M-30) declined by Rs 2/12 per quintal to Rs 2,550/2,730 as against Rs 2,552/2,742 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,550/2,730 (Rs 2,552/2,742).

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,422/2,575 (Rs 2,440/2,602).
