Sugar extends fall on reduced demand

Prices of both medium and small variety of sugar fell further at the Vashi wholesale market here today on persistent selling by stockists amidst reduced demand on the back of ample supply.

Medium sugar (M-30) dropped by Rs 6/50 per quintal to Rs 2,910/3,082 from Wednesday's close of Rs 2,916/3,132.

Small sugar (S-30) declined by Rs 20/10 per quintal to Rs 2,782/2,872 as compared to 2,802/2,882.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,782/2,872 (Rs 2,802/2,882).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,910/3,082 (Rs 2,916/3,132.
