Sugar extends recovery on better offtake

Sugar prices rose by Rs 10 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today as demand from bulk consumers and retailers picked up at prevailing levels amidst restricted supplies by mills.

Traders said apart from increased demand from bulk consumers such as ice-cream makers and confectioners, slowdown in supplies by mills, helped sugar prices.

In the millgate section, Mawana, Dhanora, Dhampur and Sakoti moved up by Rs 10 each to Rs 2,480, Rs 2,450, Rs 2,470 and Rs 2,440 per quintal, respectively.

Also, Chanpur, Dorala and Modinagar traded higher by Rs 10 each to Rs 2,420, Rs 2,485 and Rs 2,480 per quintal.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 30.00-34.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 2,600-2,750 S-30 Rs 2,590-2,740.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 2,400-2,580 S-30 Rs 2,390-2,560.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs 2,480, Kinnoni Rs 2,580, Asmoli Rs 2,540, Dorala Rs 2,485, Budhana Rs 2,490, Thanabhavan Rs 2,480, Dhanora Rs 2,450, Simbholi Rs 2,530, Modi Nagar Rs 2,480, Khatuli Rs 2,530, Dhampur 2,470, Ramala Rs 2,430, Bulandshahr Rs 2,410, Anupshar Rs 2,410, Baghpat Rs 2,440, Morna Rs 2,440, Sakoti Rs 2,440, Chandpur Rs 2,420, Nazibabad Rs 2,420.
