Sugar falls on ample supply

Sugar prices fell by up to Rs 30 per quintal at the wholesale sugar market due to ample supplies from millers against subdued demand.

Marketmen said adequate stocks position following higher supplies from producing regions amid weak demand from bulk consumers, mainly led to the fall in sugar prices.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 eased to Rs 3,270-3,400 and Rs 3,250-3,380 against last close of Rs 3,300-3,430 and Rs 3,280-3,410 per quintal respectively.

In the millgate section, Mawana, Kinnoni and Asmoli also traded lower at Rs 3,165, Rs 3,240 and Rs 3,210 against last close of Rs 3,190, Rs 3,245 and Rs 3,225 per quintal respectively.
 

Following are today's quotations per quintal:

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,270-3,400; S-30 Rs 3,250-3,380.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,130-3,245; S-30 Rs 3,110-3225.

Sugar mill gate (including duty): Mawana 3,165; Kinnoni 3,240; Asmoli 3,210; Dorala 3,225; Budhana 3,200; Thanabhavan 3,190; Dhanora 3,165; Simbholi 3,225; Modi Nagar Rs 3,175; Khatuli 3,225; Dhampur 3,130; Ramala 3,140; Bulandshar 3,145; Anupshar 3,120; Baghpat 3,150; Morna 3,140; Sakoti 3,125; Chandpur 3,140 and Nazibabad 3,130.
