Sugar falls on rising stocks, sluggish demand

Sugar prices were down by Rs 60 per quintal in the wholesale sugar market at national capital today largely on the back of rising stocks on increased supplies by mills amid subdued demand.

Marketmen said besides ample sugar stocks in the markets on persistent supplies from mills against low demand from bulk consumers, mainly pulled down sweetner prices.

Sugar mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices were down by Rs 60 to Rs 3,200-3,350 and Rs 3,180-3,330 per quintal.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices also dropped by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,400-3,480 and Rs 3,390-3,460 per quintal.

Among millgate section, sugar Dorala dipped by Rs 60 to Rs 3,260 per quintal, while Dhanora, Simbholi and Chandpur declined by Rs 40 each at Rs 3,225, Rs 3,330, Rs 3,200 per quintal.
 

Prices of Ramala, Anupshar, Baghpat, Morna and Nazibabad sheded Rs 30 each at Rs 3,260, Rs 3,230, Rs 3,270, Rs 3,260, Rs 3,250 per quintal.

In the retail markets sugar prices were down by Re 1 at Rs 37.00-39.00 per kilo.
