Sugar prices edged up by 0.21 per cent to Rs 3,377 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators built up fresh position amid uptick in demand from retailers at spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, sugar for delivery in December month traded higher by Rs 7 or 0.21 per cent to Rs 3,377 per quintal with an open interest of 10,860 lots.

Analysts said traders created fresh positions after pick up in demand in the spot market mainly attributed the rise in sugar prices at futures trade.
