Press Trust of India New Delhi
Sugar prices moved down by 0.29 per cent to Rs 3,126 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators reduced positions amid ample supplies in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, sugar for delivery in September declined by Rs 9, or 0.29 per cent, to Rs 3,126 per quintal with an open interest of 8,980 lots.

Similarly, the sweetener for delivery in August shed Rs 8,

or 0.26 per cent, to Rs 3,072 per quintal in 21,200 lots.

Analysts said besides ample supplies in the physical market, low demand from bulk consumers weighed on the sweetener prices at futures trade.
