Sugar moved down by 0.64 per cent to Rs 3,546 per quintal in futures trading today on emergence of profit booking by participants at prevailing levels.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, sugar for delivery in May month drifted by Rs 23, or 0.64 per cent to Rs 3,546 per quintal with an open interest of 1,28,920 lots.

Similarly, the sweetener for delivery in July contracts traded lower by Rs 18, or 0.49 per cent to Rs 3,685 per quintal in 24,560 lots.

Analysts said the fall in sweetener prices at futures trade was mostly due to profit-booking by traders at existing levels against adequate stocks position.
