Sugar gains on persistent demand

Both varieties of sugar gained further at the Vashi wholesale market here today on persistent demand from stockists and bulk consumers amidst adequate stocks position.

Small sugar (S-30) prices rose by Rs 30 per quintal to Rs 3,960/4,022 from Friday's closing level Rs 3,930/4,022.

Medium sugar (M-30) also moved up by Rs 2/21 per quintal to Rs 4,022/4,281 as compared to Rs 4,020/4,260 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,960/4,022 (Rs 3,930/4,022).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 4,022/4,281 (Rs 4,020/4,260).
