Sugar maintains downtrend on subdued demand

Both the varieties of sugar prices maintained its downtrend at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to subdued demand from stockists as well exporters amidst adequate supply positions.

Small sugar (S-30) fell by Rs 40/10 per quintal to Rs 3,102/3,355 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 3,142/3,365.

Medium sugar (M-30) dipped by Rs 39 per quintal to Rs 3,262/3,472 as against Rs 3,301/3,472.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,102/3,355 (Rs 3,142/3,365).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,262/3,472 (Rs 3,301/3,472).
