Sugar maintains rising trend on heavy demand

Prices of both varieties of sugar maintained their rising trend at the Vashi wholesale market today on heavy demand from stockists and domestic bulk consumers in the backdrop of higher export demand.

Medium sugar (M-30) climbed by Rs 20/31 per quintal to Rs 3,222/3,382 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 3,202/3,351.

Small sugar (S-30) advanced by Rs 18/26 per quintal to Rs 3,100/3,212 as against Rs 3,082/3,186 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,100/3,212 (Rs 3,082/3,186.

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,222/3,382 (Rs 3,202/3,351).
