Sugar millgate prices remain down on ample supply

Sugar millgate remained under selling pressure for the second straight day at the wholesale market in the national capital today and prices fell up to Rs 10 per quintal following increased selling by mills amid scattered buying by stockists and bulk consumers.

Marketmen attributed fall in sweetener prices to persistent selling by millers but scattered buying by bulk consumers, limited the losses.

In millgate section, sugar Simbholi and Khatuli shed Rs 10 each at Rs 2,615 and Rs 2,610 per quintal.

Prices of Thanabhavan dropped by Rs 10 at Rs 2,480, while Budhana and Dorala sheded Rs 5 each at Rs 2,490 and Rs 2,500.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 27.00-32.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 2,630-2,780 S-30 Rs 2,620-2,770.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 2,440-2,610 S-30 Rs 2,430-2,620.
