Sugar price climbs on hectic demand, thin arrivals

Sugar prices firmed up by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today following brisk buying support amid thin supply from mills.

Market players said increased demand from stockists, retailers and bulk consumers such as soft-drink and ice-cream makers due to ongoing summer season amid steep fall in supply, mainly pushed up sweetener prices.

Fall in output was the main reason behind price fall in sugar, they added.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 price shot up from Rs.3270-3470 and Rs.3260-3460 to end at Rs.3350-3570 and Rs.3340-3560 per quintal respectively.

Similarly mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices spurted from Rs.3180-3400 and Rs.3160-3370 to finish at Rs.3260-3480 and Rs.3240-3460 per quintal.
 

Among millgate section, sugar Mawana and Modinagar jumped up by Rs.100 each to Rs.3380 and Rs.3320 per quintal.

The following were today's quotations per quintal:

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,350-3,570, S-30 Rs 3,340-3,560.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,260-3,480; S-30 Rs 3,240-3,460.

Sugar mill gate (including duty): Mawana 3,380, Kinnoni 3,470, Asmoli 3,435, Dorala 3,390, Budhana 3,360, Thanabhavan 3,350, Dhanora 3,350, Simbholi 3,445, Modi Nagar Rs 3,320, Khatuli 3,445, Dhampur 3,320, Ramala 3,360, Bulandshar 3,320, Anupshar 3,340, Baghpat 3,380, Morna 3,370, Sakoti 3,320, Chandpur 3,320, Amroha N.T. And Nazibabad 3,360.
