Sugar price climbs on strong demand; thin supply

Sugar prices flared up by Rs 120 per quinal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following strong demand from stockists and bulk consumers against tight supplies from mills.

Market sources said a spurt in demand from stockists and bulk consumers coupled with tight arrivals from mills, mainly attributed rise in sweetener prices.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices went up by a whopping Rs 120 to Rs 3,180-3,300 and Rs 3,170-3,290 per quintal respectively.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 also shot up by Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 2,860-3,110 and Rs 2,850-3,100 per quintal.

In the millgate section, sugar Dhanora spurted by Rs 90 at Rs 2,990, while Nazibabad, Simbholi, Morna, Khatuli, Dhampur, Baghpat and Ramala were up by Rs 70 each at Rs 2,870, Rs 3,110, Rs 2,870, Rs 3,070, Rs 2,970, Rs 2,880 and Rs 2,870 per quintal, respectively.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 29.00-36.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,180-3,300, S-30 Rs 3,170-3,290.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 2,860-3,110, S-30 Rs 2,850-3,100.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs 3,000, Kinnoni Rs 3,110, Asmoli Rs 3,100, Dorala Rs 3,000, Budhana Rs 3,010, Thanabhavan Rs 3,000, Dhanora Rs 2,990, Simbholi Rs 3,110, Khatuli Rs 3,070, Dhampur Rs 2,970, Ramala Rs 2,870, Anupshaher Rs 2,860, Baghpat Rs 2,880, Morna Rs 2,870, Sakoti Rs 2,950, Chandpur Rs 2,960, Nazibabad Rs 2,870 and Malakpur Rs 2,940.
