Sugar price falls on heavy supply, slackness in demand

Snapping its two-day winning streak, sugar prices fell by Rs 80 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today on adequate stocks following increased supplies by mills amidst fall in demand from bulk consumers.

Marketmen attributed fall in sweetener prices to increased supplies from mills against fall in demand from bulk consumers as well as retailers.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices fell by Rs 50 to finish at Rs 3,180-3,350 and Rs 3,170-3,340 per quintal.

Similarly, mill delivery M-30 and S-30 traded lower by Rs 60 each to Rs 2,980-3,100 and Rs 2,970-3,090 per quintal.

In the millgate section, sugar Nazibabad and Anupshaher lost Rs 80 at Rs 2,990 and Rs 2,980, followed by Morna, Dhampur and Baghpat by Rs 70 each at Rs 3,010, Rs 2,980 and Rs 3,010 per quintal.
 

Sugar Kinnoni, Ramala and Chandpur dropped by Rs 60 each at Rs 3,100, Rs 3,010 and Rs 2,970, while Malakpur and Sakoti fell by Rs 50 each at Rs 2,990 and Rs 3,000 per quintal.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 29.00-36.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,180-3,350, S-30 Rs 3,170-3,340.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 2,980-3,100, S-30 Rs 2,970-3,090.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs 3,040, Kinnoni Rs 3,100, Asmoli Rs 3,080, Dorala Rs 3,040, Budhana Rs 3,040, Thanabhavan Rs 3,030, Dhanora Rs 3,020, Simbholi Rs 3,075, Khatuli Rs 3,060, Dhampur Rs 2,980, Ramala Rs 3,010, Anupshaher Rs 2,980, Baghpat Rs 3,010, Morna Rs 3,010, Sakoti Rs 3,000, Chandpur Rs 2,970, Nazibabad Rs 2,990 and Malakpur Rs 2,990.
