Sugar price rises Rs 40 per quintal on robust demand

Buoyed by rising demand, driven by ongoing festive season, sugar prices climbed by up to Rs 40 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today.

Marketmen said increased offtake by stockists and bulk consumers such as soft-drink, ice-cream and sweet makers, triggered by ongoing festive season mainly attributed rise in in sweetener prices.

On the other hand, prices of government and co-operative mills, continued to be enquired at previous closing levels.

Meanwhile, the government is keeping a close watch on prices of sugar and other commodities with a view to check hoarding and ensure adequate availability in the market in the festival season.
 

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices rose by Rs 30 each to end at Rs 3,950-4,180 and Rs 3,940-4,170 per quintal.

Likewise, mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices gained by a similar margin of Rs 30 to finish at Rs 3,600-3,830 and Rs 3,590-3,820

per quintal.

In the millgate section, sugar asmoli and dorala rose the most by Rs 40 each to Rs 3,820 and Rs 3,720, followed by khatuli

by Rs 30 at Rs 3,830 per quintal respectively.

Also, prices of dhanora and dhampur gained Rs 20 each to Rs 3,660 and Rs 3,630 per quintal.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 41.00-44.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,950-4,180, S-30 Rs 3,940-4,170.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,600-3,830, S-30 Rs 3,590-3,820.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs not traded, Kinnoni Rs N.T., Asmoli Rs 3,820, Dorala Rs 3,720, Budhana Rs N.T.,Thanabhavan Rs N.T., Dhanora Rs 3,660, Simbholi Rs N.T., Khatuli Rs 3,830, Dhampur Rs 3,630, Ramala Rs 3,600, Anupshaher Rs 3,600, Baghpat Rs 3,620, Morna Rs 3,600, Sakoti Rs 3,630, Chandpur Rs 3,600, Nazibabad Rs 3,600 and Malakpur Rs N.T.
