Sugar price tumbles on excess supply, weak demand

Sugar prices drifted by Rs 60 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today, pulled down by increased supplies from mills amid scattered demand from stockists and bulk consumers.

Marketmen attributed fall in sweetener prices to ample stocks in the market following persistent supplies from mills.

Sugar mill delivery M-30 and S-039 prices declined by Rs 60 each to end at Rs 2,960-3,080 and Rs 2,950-3,070 per quintal.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices also eased by Rs 20 each to settle at Rs 3,200-3,330 and Rs 3,190-3,320 per quintal.

In the millgate section, sugar dhanora and Chandpur fell by Rs 60 each to trade at Rs 2,990 and Rs 2,960 per quintal.
 

Mawana, Kinnoni and Morana were also down by Rs 30 each at Rs 3,030, Rs 3,080 and Rs 3,040 per quintal.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 29.00-36.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,200-3,330, S-30 Rs 3,190-3,320.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 2,960-3,080, S-30 Rs 2,950-3,070.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs 3,030, Kinnoni Rs 3,080, Asmoli Rs 3,040, Dorala Rs 3,020, Budhana Rs 3,040, Thanabhavan Rs 3,030, Dhanora Rs 2,990, Simbholi Rs 3,070, Khatuli Rs 3,070, Dhampur Rs 3,000, Ramala Rs 3,040, Anupshaher Rs 3,030, Baghpat Rs 3,050, Morna Rs 3,040, Sakoti Rs 3,000, Chandpur Rs 2,960, Nazibabad Rs 3,030 and Malakpur Rs 3,010.
