Sugar prices decline on supply pressure, low demand

Sugar millgate prices were down by another Rs 10 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today, following persistent supplies form mills against muted demand.

Marketmen said apart from slackened demand, persistent supply from mills kept sweetener prices low.

In the millgate section, sugar Khatuli, Dhanora, Simbholi and Budhana moved down by Rs 10 each to Rs 2,970, Rs 2,790, Rs 2,870 and Rs 2,810 per quintal.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal)

Sugar retail markets - Rs 30.00-35.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 2,950-3,130 S-30 Rs 2,940-3,120.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 2,720-2,980 S-30 Rs 2,710-2,970.
