Sugar prices fell sharply by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today due to weak demand amid bumper stocks.
Marketmen said adequate stocks in the market due to higher output amid scattered buying by stockists and bulk consumers such as soft-drink and ice-cream makers, mainly weighed on sweetener prices.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices were down by Rs 100 each to settle the day at Rs 3,500-3,620 and Rs 3,490-3,610 per quintal, respectively.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also sank by Rs 90 each to conclude at Rs 3,260-3,430 and Rs 3,250-3,420 per quintal.
In the mill gate section, sugar Mawana dipped by Rs 85 to Rs 3,310, followed by Dhanora and Sakoti plunged by Rs 80 each to Rs 3,360 and Rs 3,290, while Budhana, and Thanabhavan lost Rs 75 each to Rs 3,325 and Rs 3,270 per quintal.
