Sugar prices drop by Rs 50 per quintal on ample stocks

Sugar prices tumbled by Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following ample stocks position on persistent supplies by millers amid slackened buying by bulk consumers.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices slipped by Rs 50 each to conclude at Rs 2,610-2,730 and Rs 2,600-2,720 as compared from last close of Rs 2,630-2,780 and Rs 2,620-2,770 per quintal.

Marketmen said apart from adequate stocks in the market following supply pressure from millers, mainly dragged down sweetener prices.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also fell by Rs 20 each to settle at Rs 2,440-2,590 and Rs 2,430-2,580 per quintal.
 

In the millgate section, sugar Dhampur dropped by Rs 40 at Rs 2,420, followed by Khatuli by Rs 30 at Rs 2,580 per quintal.

Sugar Simbholi slipped by Rs 25 at Rs 2,590, while Kinnoni, Asmoli and Sakoti eased by Rs 20 each at Rs 2,590, Rs 2,580 and Rs 2,450 per quintal.
