Sugar prices edge higher on stockists' buying

Sugar prices went up at the wholesale sugar market today on emergence of buying by stockists and bulk consumers.

Marketmen attributed the rise in the sweetener's prices to fresh buying by stockists and bulk consumers amid pause in arrivals from mills.

In the national capital, sugar ready M-30 and S-30 edged up to Rs 3,550-3,730 and Rs 3,540-3,720 from previous levels of Rs 3,500-3,620 and Rs 3,490-3,610 per quintal respectively on increased offtake.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 followed suit and enquired higher at Rs 3,290-3,450 and Rs 3,280-3,440 as compared to last close of Rs 3,260-3,430 and Rs 3,250-3,420 per quintal, respectively.
 

Similar trend was extended to millgate section as sugar Mawana, Kinnoni, Asmoli, Dorala and Budhana were also quoted higher at Rs 3,370, Rs 3,450, Rs 3,420, Rs 3,370 and Rs 3,370 instead of Rs 3,310, Rs 3,420, Rs 3,350, Rs 3,330 and Rs 3,325 per quintal, respectively.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 36.00-40.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,550-3,730, S-30 Rs 3,540-3,720.
