Sugar prices remained in negative zone at the wholesale market in the national capital today due to subdued demand amid ample supplies from mills even as the government raised import duty on Friday.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices slipped from Rs 3,230-3,430 and Rs 3,220-3,420 to end at Rs 3,220-3,400 and Rs 3,210-3,390 per quintal respectively.
In a similar manner, prices of mill delivery M-30 and S-30 quoted lower at Rs 3,100-3,245 and Rs 3,080-3,225 as against previous levels of Rs 3,100-3,270 and Rs 3,080-3,255 per quintal respectively.

Prices of Modinagar and Chandpur fell by Rs 30 each to Rs 3,110 and Rs 3,100 per quintal.
Traders said the fall in sweetner prices was mostly due to adequate stocks following higher supplis from millers against subdued demand but hike in import duty to 25 per cent from 15 per cent by the government, restricted losses.
