Sugar prices slip on adequate stocks

Sugar prices drifted by Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today on huge stocks position following supply pressure from mills.

However, scattered demand from bulk consumers like ice-cream and soft-drink makers, capped the losses.

Marketmen said ample stocks following increased supplies from mills mainly led to fall in sweetener prices.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices dropped by Rs 50 to finish at Rs 2,650-2,800 and Rs 2,640-2,790 per quintal.

Sugar mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also traded lower by Rs 30 each to Rs 2,480-2,640 and Rs 2,470-2,620 per quintal.

In the millgate section, sugar Asmoli fell the most by Rs 50 to Rs 2,550. Simbholi also declined by Rs 40 at Rs 2,590 per quintal.
 

In tandem with general trend, prices of Dhanora, Bulandshar, Modinagar and Chandpur also fell by Rs 30 each to Rs 2,490, Rs 2,480, Rs 2,490 and Rs 2,480 per quintal, respectively.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 30.00-34.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 2,650-2,800 S-30 Rs 2,640-2,790.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 2,480-2,640 S-30 Rs 2,470-2,620.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs 2,520, Kinnoni Rs 2,640, Asmoli Rs 2,550, Dorala Rs 2,525, Budhana Rs 2,540, Thanabhavan Rs 2,530, Dhanora Rs 2,490, Simbholi Rs 2,590, Modi Nagar Rs 2,490, Khatuli Rs 2,580, Dhampur 2,500, Ramala Rs 2,520, Bulandshahr Rs 2,480, Anupshar Rs 2,510, Baghpat Rs 2,540, Morna Rs 2,540, Sakoti Rs 2,480, Chandpur Rs 2,480, Nazibabad Rs 2,520.
