Sugar prices slip on ample supply, weak demand

Sugar prices fell by Rs 35 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today, dragged down by increased supplies from mills and shrinking demand.

Marketmen said besides ample stocks following increased supplies from mills, fall in demand from retailers as well as bulk consumers, weighed on sweetener prices.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 were down by Rs 30 each to trade at Rs 3,820-3,880 and Rs 3,810-3,870 per quintal.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also eased by Rs 20 each to end at Rs 3,520-3,620 and Rs 3,510-3,610 per quintal.

In the millgate section, sugar dorala traded lower by Rs 35 to Rs 3,575 per quintal, followed by Nazibabad by Rs 30 at Rs 3,530 per quintal.
 

Sugar Mawana, Kinnoni, Asmoli, Thanabhavan, Budhana, Simbholi, Khatuli and Anupshaher shed Rs 20 each to Rs 3,590, Rs 3,620, Rs 3,590, Rs 3,560, Rs 3,570, Rs 3,620, Rs 3,610 and Rs 3,520 per quintal, respectively.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 39.00-44.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,820-3,880, S-30 Rs 3,810-3,870.
