Sugar prices slip on sluggish demand, higher supply

Sugar prices declined up to Rs 50 per quintal in the national capital today as demand from retailers and bulk consumers dropped amid increased supplies.

Marketmen said apart from rising stocks following increased arrivals from millers, slackened demand from bulk consumers weighed on sweetner prices.

Sugar spot M-30 and S-30 prices moved down by Rs 50 to finish at Rs 3,300-3,500 and Rs 3,280-3,480 per quintal.

Sugar Ramala, Baghpat and Morana slipped by Rs 30 each at Rs 3,200 and rest both at Rs 3,210, while Nazibabad lost Rs 25 at Rs 3,190 per quintal.

Prices of Anupshar fell by Rs 20 at Rs 3,180 and Bulandshar shed Rs 15 at Rs 3,160 per quintal.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,300-3,500, S-30 Rs 3,280-3,480.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,140-3,360; S-30 Rs 3,120-3350.

Sugar mill gate (including duty): Mawana 3,270, Kinnoni 3,360, Asmoli 3,280, Dorala 3,310, Budhana 3,250, Thanabhavan 3,240, Dhanora 3,185, Simbholi 3,320, Modi Nagar Rs 3,220, Khatuli 3,310, Dhampur 3,190, Ramala 3,200, Bulandshar 3,160, Anupshar 3,180, Baghpat 3,210, Morna 3,210, Sakoti 3,170, Chandpur 3,140 and Nazibabad 3,190.
