Sugar prices slip on thin demand, persistent supply

Sugar prices plunged by Rs 40 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following muted demand amid regular arrivals.

Marketmen said relentless supplies from mills, sparked by subdued demand from stockists and bulk consumers such as soft-drink and ice-cream makers mainly pulled down sweetener prices.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices declined by Rs 30 each to end at Rs 3,900-3,950 and Rs 3,890-3,940 per quintal.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also settled lower by Rs 40 each to finish at Rs 3,590-3,690 and Rs 3,580-3,680 per quintal.

In millgate section, sugar Asmoli, Ramala, Anupshaher, Morna and Sakoti all fell by Rs 30 each to close at Rs 3,660, while rest all at Rs 3,610 each per quintal.
 

Sugar Kinnoni, Simbholi and Baghpat slipped by Rs 25 each to conclude at Rs 3,690, Rs 3,665 and Rs 3,615, while Dhanora, Khatuli, Sakoti, Chandpur and Modinagar eased by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,655, Rs 3,670, Rs 3,620, Rs 3,610 and Rs 3,630 per quintal.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 41.00-46.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,900-3,950, S-30 Rs 3,890-3,940.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,590-3,690, S-30 Rs 3,600-3,680.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs 3,635, Kinnoni Rs 3,690, Asmoli Rs 3,660, Dorala Rs 3,640, Budhana Rs 3,645,Thanabhavan Rs 3,640, Dhanora Rs 3,655, Simbholi Rs 3,665, Khatuli Rs 3,670, Dhampur Rs 3,625, Ramala Rs 3,610, Anupshaher Rs 3,610, Baghpat Rs 3,615, Morna Rs 3,610, Sakoti Rs 3,620, Chandpur Rs 3,610, Nazibabad Rs 3,610 and Modinagar 3,630.
