Sugar prices spurt on sustained demand

Both the varieties of sugar prices spurted at the Vashi wholesale sugar market here today on sustained demand from stockist and retailers amidst millers offtake.

Medium sugar (M-30) shot-up by Rs 28/29 per quintal to Rs 3,200/3,400 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 3,172/3,371.

Small sugar (S-30) also moved-up by Rs 14/20 per quintal to Rs 3,100/3,191 as against Rs 3,086/3,171 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,100/3,191 (Rs 3,086/3,171.

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,200/3,400 (Rs 3,172/3,371).
