Sugar prices surge by Rs 50 on strong demand, tight supply

Sugar prices were up by Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following increased buying by stockists and bulk consumers amid restricted supplies from mills.

Marketmen attributed said the rise in sweetener prices was attributed to spurt in demand from stockists and bulk consumers ahead of beginning of new month.

Besides, tight supplies from millers too influenced sugar prices, they added.

Sugar spot M-30 and S-30 prices climbed by Rs 50 each to end at Rs 3,350-3,500 and Rs 3,340-3,490 per quintal.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices enquired higher by Rs 10 each at Rs 3,080-3,180 and Rs 3,070-3,160 per quintal.
 

In the millgate section, sugar Dhanora and Malakpur advanced by Rs 30 each at Rs 3,100 and Rs 3,110 per quintal.

Sugar Budhana and Thanabhavan rose by Rs 25 each at Rs 3,115 and Rs 3,105, while Dorala, Dhampur, Baghpat and Morna edged up by Rs 20 each at Rs 3,120, Rs 3,090 and rest both at Rs 3,100 each per quintal.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 32.00-38.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,350-3,500, S-30 Rs 3,340-3,490.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,080-3,180, S-30 Rs 3,070-3,170.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs 3,120, Kinnoni Rs 3,180, Asmoli Rs 3,150, Dorala Rs 3,120, Budhana Rs 3,115, Thanabhavan Rs 3,105, Dhanora Rs 3,100, Simbholi Rs 3,170, Khatuli Rs 3,160, Dhampur Rs 3,090, Ramala Rs 3,090, Anupshaher Rs 3,080, Baghpat Rs 3,100, Morna Rs 3,100, Sakoti Rs 3,100, Chandpur Rs 3,080, Nazibabad Rs 3,080 and Malakpur Rs 3,110.
