Sugar prices surge by Rs 70 per quintal on strong demand

Sugar prices firmed up by Rs 70 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following tight arrivals from mills amid robust demand from stockist and bulk consumers.

Marketmen said frantic buying by stockists and bulk consumers such as soft-drink and ice-cream makers coupled with thin arrivals from mills mainly pushed up sweetener prices.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices too higher by Rs 70 each to settle at Rs 4,120-4,200 and Rs 4,110-4,190 per quintal.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also enquired higher by Rs 40 each to end the day at Rs 3,650-3,840 and Rs 3,640- 3,830 per quintal.
 

In the millgate section, sugar Kinnoni, Budhana, Thanabhavan, Simbholi and Khatuli asked higher by Rs 40 each to Rs 3,840, Rs 3,760, Rs 3,755, Rs 3,810 and Rs 3,820 per quintal, respectively.

Sugar Dorala, Dhampur and Shamli prices also marked higher by Rs 30 each to Rs 3,760, Rs 3,720 and Rs 3,760, while Asmoli rose by Rs 20 to Rs 3,780 per quintal.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 44.00-46.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 4,120-4,200, S-30 Rs 4,110-4,190.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,650-3,840, S-30 Rs 3,640-3,830.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs N.Q., Kinnoni Rs 3,840, Asmoli Rs 3,780, Dorala Rs 3,760, Budhana Rs 3,760, Thanabhavan Rs 3,755, Dhanora Rs 3,780, Simbholi Rs 3,810, Khatuli Rs 3,820, Dhampur Rs 3,720, Ramala Rs 3,655, Anupshaher Rs 3,640, Baghpat Rs 3,670, Morna Rs 3,665, Sakoti Rs 3,730, Chandpur Rs 3,730, Nazibabad Rs 3,640, Modinagar N.Q., Shamli 3,760 and Nanota 3,665.
