Sugar prices firmed up by Rs 30 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following brisk buying by stockists and bulk consumers to meet festive season demand amid restricted supplies.
Marketmen said a spurt in demand from bulk consumers and retailers following beginning of new month and festive season, mainly buoyed the upsurge in sweetener prices.
Besides, restricted supplies from mills gave boost to rising sweetener prices, they added.
