Sugar prices firmed up by Rs 20 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following largely on the back of increased demand from stockists, retailers and bulk consumers amid restricted arrivals from mills.
Marketmen said the rise in sweetener prices was mostly attributed to strong demand from retailers, stockist and bulk consumers such as ice-cream and soft-drink makers due to beginning of new month.
Besides, tight supplies from mills also influenced sugar prices, they added.
