sugar prices rose by Rs 20 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today on scattered buying by bulk consumers and retailers amid higher rates by mills.
Marketmen said buying by retailers, stockists and bulk consumers helped sweetener prices to rise.
However, prices of government and co-operative mills sugar were comparatively lower as the government measures to keep prices below Rs 40 per kilo during the festivals.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also asked higher by Rs 20 each to finish at Rs 3,560-3,710 and Rs 3,550-3,700 per quintal.
In the millgate section, sugar Kinnoni, Dorala and Khatulise by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,710, Rs 3,620 and Rs 3,680 per quintal.
Sugar Mawana, Asmoli, Budhana, Simbholi and Dhanora also moved up by Rs 10 each to Rs 3,640, Rs 3,660, Rs 3,610, Rs 3,690 and Rs 3,610 per quintal.
